The Port - Environment 1 by kcgarza The Port - Environment 1 by kcgarza
So this is part of the big ongoing project in my Advanced Concept Art class that's been taking up a lot of my time. Basically we're designing a game (called "Native") over the course of the quarter -- down to the characters, their props, vehicles, weapons, etc; the environments and environmental assets; the enemies and creatures; and NPCs. Super fun stuff :) (Smile)

This is one of the first levels, called The Port. There's a lot of other development work on my sketchblog.

Gorgeous. Enough said. Well, maybe I could say more, though would be redundant and gorgeous seems the best word to describe this.

Very nice work, almost feels like an oil painting.

Is this for a video game you're making?

Not an actual video game, it's a class project. But we're treating it as if it's a real game we're making.

Oh.  I think it's pretty, but a whole city being close to water seems a little dangerous, don't you think?

Pay a man enough and he'll walk bare footed to hell. People are more then willing to build anywhere just as long as it's to their best interest. The piers seem taller then the boats, so large ships must dock here. Then there are also the water wheels, mainly the one on the far right that suggest that there might be a river that meets with the sea. Also it's pretty much a port town, might be between two points of interests, but too far for a ship to go and this was the best place to build. And then seeing how their are airships, can figure these are the type of people that would throw caution to the wind.

 I was given a very clear description of the city in the assignment and that's what it said. It's a game level, not an urban planning concept.
